Official Raspberry Pi Camera Module V2.1, 8MP

Overview

The official Raspberry Pi Camera Module V2.1 is an 8-megapixel camera board that connects straight to the CSI port on a Raspberry Pi. It captures 3280 × 2464 still images and records video at 1080p30, 720p60 or 640 × 480p90.

Everything needed to drive it is already in current versions of Raspberry Pi OS, so there is no driver hunt — connect the ribbon cable, enable the camera and start capturing. The board is tiny and light, which is what makes it so useful for 3D-printer monitoring with OctoPrint, home security, dashcams and machine-vision projects.

Please note: this is the Camera Module V2.1, not the newer Camera Module 3.
